What Jaycees Do

What Does a Jaycee Do?

The Midland Jaycees focus on three areas of development: CommunityIndividual and Management. Every project we run falls into one of those areas.

Community Development

The Midland Jaycees are actively involved in the community in a number of ways. We have raised money for community groups such as Girls on the Run  and the The Arc of Midland, and we have participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
Our most prominent Community Development project is food baskets for the less fortunate at
The North Midland Family Center and raising funds for the The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network.
Other Community Projects have included Community Easter Egg Hunt, Adopt A Family, and the Midland Jaycee Scholarship Fund.

Individual Development

This area of development covers a wide range, including personal and professional development, social activities and international involvement.
Past and current Individual Development projects include Game & Greets, our General Membership MeetingsInternational Presentations and Curling.
You can learn more about these projects by contacting us at midlandmijaycees@gmail.com.

Management Development

This area focuses on the “business” aspects of the chapter – excellent for learning time management, strategic planning and organizational finances.
Past and current management projects include the Board of Directors;  chapter fundraisingJaycee 5K and 10K race series and events with the Midland Chamber of Commerce.

Why Be a Midland Jaycee?

There are many benefits to joining the Midland Jaycees. Some are available through the Michigan Junior Chamber of Commerce, the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce or the Junior Chamber International, but other benefits are discovered by participating in projects, volunteering or just trying something new!

Social Networking

Many people come to the Jaycees as a way to meet people. Whether they’ve just moved to an area or they’re looking to expand their personal or professional network, we offer many opportunities for social interaction throughout the year.

Community Service

While some groups pursue one goal or support one purpose, the Midland Jaycees choose to support both local and national organizations. We look to create lasting relationships on a local level, giving our members multiple chances to make a difference where they live.

Personal and Professional Development

Ever want to try something new, like sushi or traditional Irish cuisine? Interested in learning about business dinner etiquette? The Midland Jaycees run various projects throughout the year that encourage learning and new experiences.

Leadership Skills

If you ask the Michigan Jaycees what we do, we’ll respond: We Build Leaders! For some people, this means holding a position on the Board of Directors for their local chapters. For others, it means serving on the State Board. But this also means that we help people become leaders in their own lives by creating opportunities for them to acquire valuable skills and experience.
